The G-Man is Here!

I know that word has definitely gotten around by now, but we are so happy that Grady has entered the world! After 16 hours of labor (including 2 hours of pushing....yikes!) Grady arrived at 6:46pm on Sunday, March 29th. We had a slight problem in the delivery in that Grady had basically pooped during delivery and was coated in a lovely coat of florescent green meconium (baby's 1st yucky, tarry bowel movement) and the fear was that he would breathe that in and it could cause nasty lung problems. So in those last few minutes of delivery, the neonatal team was called in and they suctioned his lungs right after birth and then whisked him away to the neonatal intensive care unit. Not exactly what I had had in mind since they had told me that he would be placed in my arms right after birth for "bonding" time. BUT everything worked out and he was just fine. After a few hours in the nursery, he got to come join us in our room (at the time it felt like forever though), and it took about 10 seconds for us to fall head over heels in love with our little bundle of joy. Here he is in the hospital:
In the nursery- all hooked up and monitored.
Back in our room soon after looking amazing and healthy!

Grady was 6 lbs, 15 ozs and 19.5 inches at birth. He has lots of hair (as you can see) that is pretty blond- he looks a lot like his daddy. He's got his beautiful blue eyes too. He had many visitors in the hospital: his Grandma & Grandpa Dake, Auntie Mandy, Auntie Ronna, Auntie Tawnya, and Auntie Jen! Thanks for coming guys! We've also had lots of people come visit at home. Thanks to Jenny, Bethany, Keli, and Great-Grandparents for coming to meet Grady! We've got visitors lined up for the next few weeks too....Grady's especially looking forward to meeting his Grammy & Papa Stephens. Very soon!

I've got a bunch of pics I'd love to post, but I'll try to just pick out my favs. Also, here's just some highlights from the past few days:
  • He had his first Dr. appt on Thursday (4 days old) and he was only one ounce less than his birth weight. That's great since he's supposed to be back at his birth weight by 2 weeks!
  • We also went to see the lactation specialist that day and they loved him so much they wanted him to be their poster child for being a good breast feeder! :)
  • We gave him his first bath on Thurs. too (sponge bath) and he was so good for us.
  • Derek & I are slow learners: we've been peed on/ at at least 5 times already. That boy pees everytime you open his diaper. We've started covering the ween better now. Sorry Auntie Inger for peeing on you!
  • Grandma Becky got projectile pooped at today. I didn't even know this was possible. I was holding up his legs while Grandma was wiping his little tush, and he erupted right then and there. Lovely yellow poopoo went flying everywhere. While we tried to stop laughing and clean up, he helped us by peeing straight up in the air too. Wow.
  • He's been sleeping pretty good at night- 3 or 4 hours at a time now without an interuption. He is very mild mannered. We hope he stay this way!
  • We love him SOOOOO much!
Officially one day old!
First time in the car- big ride home! I was in the back seat and Daddy was so nervous to drive!
First bath!4 Generations!!!

PS: Bobby won for the correct date of March 29th and Uncle Larry was closest with the weight! Good job guys. You get to now babysit first! :)

Hi you guys...enjoy every minute. He is absolutely adorable and if you need any mommy advice do not hesitate to email. It feels like just yesterday we brought Parker home. Now he is going on 10 months crazy. We hope to get down there soon for a visit with everyone. Lots of love, Courtney, Budge and Parker.

Such a great blog - I can't wait until Grady is 14 and rolls his eyes about how much you exploited his bowl movements! You can always just respond "shit happens".

But really, he is so handsome... I can't wait to meet him and hang out with you in a few weeks.
