Road Trip 2009 Part 1: Up to Napa
It's been awhile since I've blogged and I have so much to blog about and pics to share that it's intimidating! :) I don't know how to get it all in! So I'll try not to give too many details/ pics.... BUT we had a great trip! Road Trip 2009 was a huge success! Grady did better than we could ever have imagined, and we got to do so much and see so many people. That baby slept like a champ in the car (well, my dad's borrowed truck), and kept a pretty good sleeping schedule considering we dragged him up and down the state of California. I'm going to try to do less writing and more picture sharing, so here it goes.....
Our adventure began after a one-hour drive to Murrieta, where we swooped by a Brockett Family Gathering and had much fun and much food to eat.

Then we were off to Santa Barbara where we spent the night with our friends Sarah and Nick. They made us a fantastic dinner and we went to breakfast at a fav SB spot: Sambos for Father's Day breakfast! Then we were off to SLO for a Father's Day lunch at SLO Brewing CO. Here's the featured father of the day and his beautiful son! Jeff joined us too and we got to see his house finally. I have a cute pic of Grady and him at lunch, but it's on my Iphone. Maybe it will make part 2. :)
We stayed that Sunday night in Shell Beach with my aunt Linda. We were also fed delicious food there, and Grady took quickly to his auntie Linda! We were already getting used to the free lodging and food. ***Eating was a big part of this trip for sure!
About 5 more hours up to Napa to see Grady's Grammy and Poppa! Here we stayed for almost a week. The time there flew. We celebrated our 3rd anniversary, went to one of Derek's best friend's wedding in Sonoma, and hungout with the fam. Grady got very used to seeing his loving grandparents every day, he misses them now! I do too....we got to sleep in every morning! :)

Meeting Great Grandma Stephens!
4 Generations!
Sleeping in Derek's great-grandpa's crib. What a cool thing to have!
Meeting Cousin Brynn for the first time (she's 5 weeks older than Grady). Being Friendly!
And then she went in for the attack! It was so funny. She's a fast roller! Grady didn't even seem to care!
Then we had to take more pics of them in the adorable outfits made by aunt Mel! Happy 4th of July!
Yes, we brought his bathtub with us....we brought everything with us!
Our last day in Napa was Grady's 3 month birthday! Of course we brought the birthday monkey! Grammy even had cake and candles ready for him.
Now it was on to Kernville...and don't worry, there was more birthday cake there waiting for Grady. Is this boy spoiled or what? Look for part 2 of our trip, coming soon!!!!!
On the road again! I caught our gifted boy "reading" in the car! :)

Wish I could have been there to help introduce Grady to SLO. He'll just have to come up and visit his Uncle Jeff and Aunt Kenzi again...maybe once they own a house! And I hope he doesn't get car sick while reading like his Aunt! :)
Love Aunt Mel's style! Thank you for sharing the wonderful pictures of Grady's first road trip. I just know he is really reading his book - he is such a smart boy. Love Aunt Susie
