They went to Lisa's and Grady got to have his first Valentine's party at school (which he was super excited for). As soon as school was out, we headed up to Murrieta to spend the night with Grandma and get ready to drive up to Kernville (the pinecone house as we now call it). Unfortunately, Derek couldn't join us because he had work on Friday and his bball team had a big game- they ended up winning their league- yay! We did our own V-day a few days earlier.
It was a big weekend in Kernville. It was Whiskey Flat Days, a big celebration with a parade, festivals, food, reinactments of the "olden days," etc. In the town where we usually see maybe 20 other people, there was probably over 1,000 people! It was crazy!
Parade time!
Jeff & I took Grady to the kids carnival while my mom watched a sleeping Kendall, and dad & Kenzi went on a lunch date :)
G had a blast- and we had a good time watching him!
Later we swung by the Mitas' place and had a quick tasting from their new winery! Delicious!
On Sunday we went to check out the encampment, where they renacted the local camps from the 1800s. It was very cool! The kids were into it too.
They loved pumping the water and grinding the corn.
After the encampment we headed up to the snow. Crazy that we could drive 20 minutes and experience such a big change in temperature! This was K's first time in the snow, and she wasn't quite sure what she thought. She loved the sled, but didn't love the cold. She lasted about 10 minutes, but it was a fun 10 minutes!
Grady on the other hand loved every minute. He had such a great time with his cousins making snow boulders, sledding down the hill, and throwing snowballs!
Monday morning before we left, we rode quads at the track. Again, G loved it! What an exciting weekend we had! It was action packed, and lots of good memories were made. Thank you Papa Mike & Grandma for having us at the pinecone house. We were so glad to get to hangout with Jeff & Kenzi and the Mitas fam too! We went home exhausted- a sign of a successful weekend!
