Half a Year

6 months?
Has it really been half a year since our baby was born?
Yes it has, it is true. Grady is 6 months old today. To celebrate, we went walking in Coronado and had lunch out on the patio. Here's G enjoying the beautiful weather.
Here is G with his birthday monkey! If Grady looks a little scared, it's because he is. You may not know this, but the birthday monkey sings: Happy Birthday to you, you live in the zoo, you look like a monkey and you smell like one too! The whole song. We've played it for G every time, but this was the first time that he really paid attention. And he wasn't so sure of what he thought....

Then we took him to his 6 month checkup. Not exactly the way to spend a birthday (since it included FOUR shots), but he was a trooper. He loved the paper covering the table- he tore two different layers up for the doctor. He also has his first cold right now, but it's not too bad. Mainly a stuffy nose. The doc said he looks good and it should clear up soon. Here's the 6th month stats:
  • 16 lbs. 12 oz (10-25th percentile)
  • 28.5 inches (95th percentile) ***He's gonna be a basketball player, yes he is!
The doctor also said to start him with his sippy cup and eating fruits or veggies. So, operation sippy cup and baby food went into action right when we got home- I was all ready for it! Grady was in heaven when I gave him the sippy cup. His favorite thing is grabbing at water bottles, so he was so excited for his OWN water bottle! Yay!

I had the stage 1 baby food ready and waiting too. We decided to start with carrots, and he LOVED them! He actually ate them better than he does his cereal.

We followed up with cereal, but he was getting sleepy, and kept putting his hands in his mouth and rubbing at his nose and eyes. What a mess. He really worked up for his bath tonight!
Here's some pics from the weekend. Even though he's not crawling yet, Grady is definitely "scooting." He started sitting in the Boppy pillow there. A few minutes later I found him here! I give him one more month before he's crawling everywhere. We'll see! We had a family gathering this past weekend to celebrate Sofia's 4th Birthday. Here is G with his cousins admiring him. Aren't they cute? Betty- aka the Baby Whisperer. Grady has always really taken to his Auntie Betty!
Grady and his Gigi! Does Grandpa look comfortable, or what? :)I tried to get G to wear his moccasins that Aunt Beth made...but he just wanted to eat them!We took G swimming again on Sunday. He fits in his floatie now! This may have been the last swim of the season....the pool water is getting cold! Brrrrr, we only stayed in for a few minutes.
