Summertime!

We have hit up the pool a few times already (although the water is still a bit chilly!) The kids LOVE to go swimming!

Started a new tradition: Summertime presents. We opened them on the first official day of my summer break. I have a bit of an online shopping problem.... so I needed some excuse to buy them gifts! :)
Grady got a Mater bubble blower!
And Kendall got a new swing!

We had to get her one after capturing this moment a couple of weeks ago on a friend's swing. This pic makes me smile every time I look at it!

In other news, Derek has been super busy installing artificial grass in the backyard. Here's a pic when it was almost done. It was a serious project- took 2 months! BUT it was so worth it because it looks fabulous now! And it's so nice to let the kids play on it without worrying about itching, stickers, gophers, rocks, etc, etc! My hubby is amazing!

Grady put the candles on my birthday ice cream roll. He obviously thinks I'm getting pretty old!

Had a great birthday! My parents came over on Sunday and we had the ice cream roll and went for pizza. On my bday the kids and I went out to lunch with Amy & then hit up a couple of museums at Balboa Park. Then D & I got a date while my former 5th grade student (now just graduated high school!), Mailyn, babysat! It was a fun day! Lots of eating! :) Here are the kids and I trying to take a picture together on my bday. There were many more than this too, but just wanted to share how fun it is to try to get Grady to look "normal" for a pic!!!

Finally a decent one- and I look drunk or something! Of course!

Yesterday we decided to try some s'mores out in the yard. Grady had marshmallows on the mind for some reason and wouldn't give it a rest until we roasted some. Then of course, he didn't want the actual s'more, just the marshmallow! So guess who was the only one to eat a s'more? Oh yeah, me. But it was tasty!!!

Fun, fun fun! Can't wait until we're there! Although, I'm still trying to find out when we actually get to come down... :(
