New Years at the pinecone house!

A few days after Christmas the kids and I headed up to the Pinecone House with Grandma (Papa Mike was already there and Derek met up with us a few days later). We spend almost a week hanging out and doing lots of outdoor activities in the unusually warm weather. The first night we got to hangout with cousins and make smores!

Then the quad- frenzy began. My parents bought Andrew's old quad off of Bob for Grady to now have. Oh man was he excited. And so was Kendall.

Luckily Grady is pretty cautious and he did a great job on the quad for his first time. For a boy who usually looks so big to me, he sure looked little on that quad! He loved every minute.

Of course Baby Kakes had to get in on the action too! She got her first ride in this trip. First with Grandma, and then with Papa!

Sofia looks so cute on her little quad! She's one tough cookie!

Due to the warm weather, we had to search a little harder than usual for snow. We found some though and it was still pretty chilly up there! The snow was pretty darn icy and not great for playing in, but G and I stomped around in it for awhile and had some fun. Poor Kendall fell asleep during our search and missed the snow this year. She needed the nap though since she decided she no longer needed naps while we were on vacation!

Sometimes it's so nice just not to be home and to not have to worry about the things we worry about when we're home. At the Pinecone House we're allowed to be lazy, to relax, and to just enjoy one another! We had many nights that ended in this scene:

And mornings like this...

Outdoor fun! Throwing rocks in the stream for as loooong as they could get away with.

We always love getting away to the Pinecone House! Happy 2014!
