Summertime!

We started summer off with a bang with a trip to Vegas with our friends: Amy, Tim, Mike, & Michael. It had been probably 7 or more years since we had been to Vegas, and a little adult time was so was great way to start our summer! We had so much fun.

Staying at the Mandalay Bay and hanging at the pool all day in a cabana that M & M got for us was our favorite part! So fun and relaxing.

We did miss these guys though, and a few days after we got back home, we took our first family camping trip. We had made reservations at Carlsbad State Beach six months ahead of time, and it was finally time for our two nights at the beach!

We brought eveything we could (you know, for those 2 nights), and we were all excited.

We had a great time, but the first night was really rough. The kids were just overally excited, went to bed late, and both melted down. Luckily the second night went much more smoothly. Probably because we were all so exhausted and went to bed much earlier. Overall though, we had a fun trip and would definitely do it again!

The kids also took swim lessons for 2 weeks in June. They both did really well. Kendall was a little fish in her beginner group (of 3-5 year olds... We had to lie a bit since she's still 2), and Grady got in the more advanced 5 year old group, learning multiple strokes and skills.

Grady was so brave and went off the diving board in the deep end!

Playing on the last day! This was the summer that Grady really became water safe and could get around the pool all on his own. Kendall has no fear, and is a natural in the water. We did so much swimming over the summer that both kids got really good at swimming by the end of our break!

I took the kids to the fair (we met Ronna and her boys there, and my friend Mike joined us too) and the day started like this- Kendall was happy, but Grady thought it was too loud, too crowded, and too "smelly."

Luckily, after a snack (I swear the boy gets low blood-sugar), playing a carnival game, and checking out the rides, he cheered up and had fun.

He even ended up being a daredevil and going on this ride all by himself! It went up pretty high!
